10 Tips on how to buy a Bra that fits.

A bra has a very important job to do and your posture can be badly affected if it is not working properly. Many make the mistake of settling for any bra rather than finding the bra that is the perfect fit.

1. The most important factor to consider when purchasing your bra is to make sure the bra that you choose is comfortable.

2.  Know your measurements. Measure your back strap around your chest just underneath the bottom of your breast. Measure your cup around your chest and this time just over the fullest part of your breast. The difference between the back strap and the cup measurements will give you a general idea of your cup size. It is better to try on different bras and find out experimentally which one fits.

3. Check your bra for pinching, bulging and wrinkling. The bra cup must be smooth, with no wrinkles.

4. When trying on your bra, bend over and allow your breasts to fall naturally into the cups. Stand slowly and adjust the bra. Raise your nipple so that it is at the centre of each cup. The centre of the bra should lie flat against your breastbone.

5. Make sure the clasp is on the loosest fitting not the tightest.

6. Make sure the back of the bra rests comfortably against the middle of your back. The back strap supports most of the weight of your bust. The back strap should run in a straight, horizontal line around your body. If the bra band rides up on your back, the band is too large (loose) and you need to go down in the band size.

7. If your breasts are bulging out of the sides or over the top of the cups, you need a bigger cup size.

8. Wires should be comfortable and lie flat against the body, if they poke you; this is an indication that the cup size is too small.

9. Shoulder straps are not your main bust supporter. Tighten them so that they are firm but don’t dig into you. They should not slip over your shoulders.

10. The ideal situation would be to try and get yourself fitted by a professional. However don’t choose your bra on measurement alone. You must try it on. Let that be the final determining factor.
